RFK JR: "We Can't Afford to Lose a Single Farmer"
Food Freedom is the key to transforming the health of America
RFK JR boldly defends farming in America and calls for the end of chemical usage in farming:
In his Senate confirmation hearing to head the HHS, RFK JR displayed a clear and deep understanding of the underlying problem with our health in America: our food is becoming less and less like food. Over the last several decades we’ve seen how the advent of GMO crops, pesticide usage, and a broken education system, has radically transformed our farming industry. We now have fewer farmers and the farmers we do have are not taught about regenerative systems. Farmers today are taught more about applying chemicals than they are about how to manage life on the soil to create more life in the soil. It’s no coincidence that the decline in farmers in America has coincided with the massive decline in our overall health. The very nature of our food has changed. And now, the people tasked with growing this food are no longer equipped with the resources to survive without government aid and chemical inputs. Thankfully, it appears like RFK JR is prepared to not only boldly speak about these issues, but also address them with practical solutions.
This change will not be easy.
The vested interests in the existing model are immeasurably large and the fears around creating change in the food system keep decision-makers paralyzed. The fact of the matter is we need bold change in the food system. Based on RFK JR’s comments during his Senate hearing, he understands the nuances baked into these issues. He called for the creation of an off-ramp for farmers to start introducing regenerative practices. He called for the end of the era of chemical farming and the resurgence of something robust and new. Again, this will not be an easy change, or a welcomed one, but it’s exciting to think that regenerative farming may be getting more attention over the next 4 years than ever before.
